Seabrook Island

Seabrook Island, located on the Atlantic shore just 22 miles south of historic Charleston, is unique among South Carolina’s many attractive resort and residential communities. It is distinctive in that it is totally private and completely owned by its property owners. Entry to the island is controlled by a security gate that insures privacy for visitors and residents.

The natural beauty of the island is striking as you enter under a canopy of great oaks and the myriad number of trees and flora native to the sea islands. There are three and a half miles of pristine beach along the Atlantic shore and the banks of the Edisto River, which empties into the ocean at Seabrook. Marshes teeming with wildlife and changing vistas with the tides captivate visitors and residents who enjoy this idyllic setting.

The Club at Seabrook Island, which is owned by a number of the property owners, offers two championship golf courses; “Crooked Oaks” designed by the great Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and “Ocean Winds” designed by Willard Byrd; a beach club with two pools; 13 Har-Tru tennis courts in a racquet club setting; and a beautiful Island House club facility housing restaurants, lounges and a golf pro shop. Other restaurant facilities located in the Beach Club area offer casual fare for swimmers and beach enthusiasts. A complete program of supervised children’s fun and family activities is in full swing from Memorial Day to Labor Day and during the holidays. Also unique to Seabrook Island is its equestrian center, home of the annual Charleston Summer Classic Horse Show, a not-to-be-missed event for all who love equestrian sports.

Bohicket Marina, located just outside the gate to Seabrook Island development, is a superb marina and attractive shopping area on Bohicket Creek. Three hundred slips are available to for all sizes of motor cruisers and sailboats. There are also dry storage facilities for smaller craft. Deep sea fishing is an hour away from Bohicket in the Atlantic gulf stream. Boat rentals and charters for deep sea fishing, crabbing, shrimping, or exploring the miles of ocean creeks are available for your marine pleasures.

A visit to Seabrook Island will be an experience you will recall with fond memories. It may even bring you back for permanent enjoyment of a quality of life that is rare.

Located on the southern coast of historic Charleston, South Carolina, Seabrook Island has long been acknowledged as one of South Carolina’s most beautiful barrier islands.
Seabrook is home to one of the state’s widest and growing beaches, and Seabrook Island’s golf courses have been designated as the first fully certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary in South Carolina. Nationally recognized tennis facilities and a full-service equestrian center add to the unique nature of the island.
