German heritage in Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is situated in the Texan region called Hill Country.
The ‘Hill Country’ is one of the seven regions in Texas located between Austin, Fredericksburg and New Braunfels.
May be 150 years ago first German immigrants came to the region and established Fredericksburg which is still a place where German heritage is alive and combined with Texan hospitality.
In Fredericksburg the Main Street is still undertitled with “Hauptstrasse” which is the German word for Main Street.
Oktoberfest
Early October the little town is busy with its Oktoberfest whic means original Bavarian music and beer. Location: the „Marienplatz“ (town center square, downtown).
The Visitor Information Center is located one block off Main Street at 302 E. Austin Street, between N. Lincoln and N. Washington Streets.
