South Street Seaport

The South Street Seaport is a slice of old New York at the tip of downtown Manhattan. A thriving retail and dining center, this urban marketplace is designed to serve the local community with its neighborhood warmth, while at the same time allowing visitors to experience the vitality and color of downtown New York.

Opened in 1983, the Seaport consists of 250,000 square feet and includes five buildings:
The Fulton Market, Pier 17 Pavilion and street-level retail outlets in historic landmark 19th century buildings on the surrounding blocks. More than 35 restaurants and food outlets, featuring settings as diverse as English pubs, European cafes, and Italian bistros and over 100 retailers including clothing boutiques, galleries, specialty stores and unique pushcarts. The South Street Seaport Museum is a museum without walls, featuring changing exhibits on maritime New York, tours and demonstrations.

The museum has one of the finest fleets of historic sailing vessels in the world. The Seaport hosts year-round special events and activities, FREE to the public, including live outdoor concerts, street performers, festivals, holiday weekend celebrations, and spectacular fireworks presentations.
