Monument Valley is located along the Arizona-Utah border inside the Navajo Nation Reservation which overlays parts of Arizona and Utah.
The Visitor Center is located in Utah and is a good place to should start your discovery of the area – it’s located ca. 4 mi southeast of the US 163.
Monument Valley is known from many Western movies and especially John Wayne movies. It’s one of the typical landscapes that coined the image of the southwest region of the United States. Monument Valley sits about 1.695 m / ~ 1mile above sea level and encompasses an area of 120 square km / 46 square miles.
