Even if people in Bavaria speak German, you'll note a huge difference in the pronunciation and you'll discover expressions and phrases you've never heard before.
Well, the Bavarian dialect is sometimes a language of its own. But don't worry, Munich as a very cosmopolitan city and the grade of dialect is quite moderate.
Here we'd like to introduce you to some phrases and expressions found in Bavarian dialect, they're common and used on a daily basis.

Grüss Gott!
A greeting meaning 'Good Day!'
Can be used at any time of the day.

A Leberkas Semmel, bittschön!
Translation: "A 'Leberkas' sandwich, please." Meaning: Leberkas is a special meat product made from pork and/or veal. Leberkas is a food specialty in Bavaria!

A Mass, bittschön!
Translation: "A liter mug beer, please." Meaning: A "Mass" is the correct word for a 1 Liter Mug. You need not mention that you want to have 'beer' because a 'Mass' is always a 'Mass Beer'!

An Helles, bittschön!
Translation: "A glass (half liter) of beer, please." Meaning: A "Helles" is a synonym for beer.!

Schweinsbraten mit Knödl
Meaning: Schweinsbraten is a sort of pork roast made in the oven. A really good Schweinsbraten has a crispy crust on one side. If it's not fresh any more the crust is gone and it would not be considered a 'good' one. A Schweinsbraten is a traditional dish in Bavaria.
'Knödl' are dumplings. There are three types, 2 sorts of 'Kartoffel Knödl' (Potato dumpling either made from cooked and raw potatoes (half-half) or made from raw potatoes) and 1 'Semmel Knödl' (made from bread, eggs, milk, etc. dumpling).

Schweinswürstl mit Kraut
Meaning: sort of sausages. They look like 'Breakfast sausages / bratwurst'. Another traditional and typical dish in Bavaria. Usually served with 'Sauerkraut'. You would order: "Ich nehme Schweinswürstl mit Kraut" (I'd like Schweinswurstl with Sauerkraut). A very well-known type of Schweinswürstl are "Nürnberger Bratwürstl".
