Deinhard Cellar Museum

Deep in the heart of Koblenz, where Rhein and Mosel join, stands Deinhard’s ancestral home. Founded in 1794 as a wine trading firm, and soon well established in the world of wines, Deinhard as one of the first businesses in Germany began producing sparkling wine. Now, as then Deinhard embodies high quality, tradition and passion for sparkling wine and still wine.
In 1969 the Deinhard cellar museum was founded in the oldest part of the Deinhard cellars that originate from 1850. Here visitors will learn about the production of sparkling wine and still wine from an expert who explains the original equipment and machinery.
Visitors will gain insight in the work of vintners and all important movements necessary in wine making. A model is used to demonstrate that in the early days wooden barrels were not only repaired in the wine cellars, but were produced too. The second part of the museum deals with sparkling wine production. Bottle fermentation by the traditional Méthode Champenoise and dégorgement take centre stage there.
You may book dates for guided tours either by telephone or e-mail. Bookings for groups will be confirmed in writing.
