Carnival (Düsseldorfer Karneval)

It's the so-called 5th season and a major event. Most important day is Rose Monday (before Fat Tuesday) with one of the biggest parades in Germany, however there are many events taking place in the months before Rose Monday.

Christmas time of the year

The Christmas markets in the old town and on Schadowplatz transform Düsseldorf’s centre into a Christmas wonderland, attracting many hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

Düsseldorf Skiing World Cup

Early December, the stars of the world of cross-country skiing will meet on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf for the FIS Cross-Country Skiing World Cup Sprint 2010. What seemed like a mad idea before it was first held eight years ago – a skiing event in the middle of a city – has become an annual highlight in the sporting calendar.
